The human mind is prone to always seeing the negative in a situation or expecting negative results to happen in the future. It is like a built in safety mechanism in the mind. It's only goal is to keep us from doing anything that could potentially cause harm to us physically or emotionally.... Most of the time though, it keeps us from doing what our heart and soul want us to do. It keeps us in our comfort zone or where we are used to being, no matter how good or bad that may be.

We actually have a choice when it comes to our thoughts. Most of us just go along with whatever we are thinking. Blindly going through the motions of life as a passenger to their mind. Every now and then the heart says "Hey! let's try this, it feels good!" but the mind says "NO. We could get hurt" and we miss another opportunity.
𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙄𝙏 𝙏𝘼𝙆𝙀𝙎 𝙄𝙎 𝘾𝙃𝙊𝙊𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝘼 𝙃𝘼𝙋𝙋𝙔 𝙏𝙃𝙊𝙐𝙂𝙃𝙏
That is really all it takes. Learn to realize when you are being a passenger and take control. Tell yourself that your thoughts aren't based in reality, tell them that they are either stuck in the past or trying to plan the future! Realize that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. Nothing you think can change the past and nothing you plan for can make the future. Focus on the moment. Now is the only time that actually exists. Be present in the moment and take life moment by moment.
